How We’re Celebrating Mother’s Day with a Simple Brunch at Home + Free Printable Coloring Card

Mother’s Day doesn’t have to mean fancy restaurants or big crowds. Some of my favorite celebrations have been the simplest—just a few family members gathered around the table, good food, and a lot of love. This year, we’re planning a Mother’s Day brunch at home. Something relaxed, meaningful, and filled with little touches that make the day feel special without a ton of stress.

If you're planning your own Mother’s Day celebration with close family, here are a few of the ways we're keeping things sweet, simple, and full of intention this year.

A Thoughtful Table Setup

We’re keeping the guest list small—just a few loved ones over for a mid-morning brunch—and I still like to make the table feel a little extra. Nothing over-the-top, just a simple runner, some soft-colored napkins, and a few flowers from the yard or local market.

If you’re hosting, you can pull together Mother’s Day decorations that are as easy as placing some fresh blooms in mason jars or printing a simple menu card for each place setting. It doesn’t have to be Pinterest-perfect to feel special.

Matching Mommy & Me Aprons

One of the things I love most about celebrating Mother’s Day is the chance to make new memories with my kid. Before guests arrive, we usually bake something simple together—muffins or cinnamon rolls—and it’s become a little tradition that I look forward to each year.

This year, we’ll be wearing our mommy and me aprons, and it’s honestly such a sweet way to mark the moment. It makes the prep time feel like part of the celebration. If you’re celebrating with younger kids (or even grandkids!), it’s a fun and photo-worthy way to get them involved in the kitchen.

If you love the idea of baking together in matching aprons, you can check out our collection of Mommy & Me apron sets in the shop—they make the sweetest Mother’s Day keepsake (and the cutest photos).

Simple Brunch Menu

We keep the menu easy and crowd-pleasing. Think:

  • A breakfast casserole or quiche

  • A fresh fruit platter

  • Pastries or baked goods (homemade or picked up from a favorite bakery)

  • Mimosas, coffee, and juice for the kids

  • Chicken salad croissant sandwiches (our family's favorite)

Everything is easy to prep ahead or assemble quickly in the morning so I can actually enjoy the gathering.
