A Thoughtful Easter Gift Idea for Kids

At our house, Easter morning always includes a big, traditional basket for my kiddo—but I still like to get a little something from us to our cousins or family friends' kids when they come over for an egg hunt. This year, I put together a fun little gift for my niece that still felt festive and special, but without the full-blown basket treatment.

If you're hosting family or want to drop off a sweet surprise for a child who isn't your own, this is such a fun and easy way to spread a little Easter joy. It’s not a classic basket—but it’s personal, reusable, and full of little things she’ll actually love.

What I Included in Her Gift:

Personalized Bunny Ears

These are always a favorite! I added her name to a soft, pastel pair of bunny ears and tucked them right into the gift bag. Kids love wearing them around the house or to egg hunts—and adding their name makes it feel extra special.

Even if your little one isn’t interested in wearing them all day (especially the toddlers!), they still make for the cutest photo prop. Just pop them on for a quick Easter morning photo and you’re golden.

A Plush Bunny

I always try to include something soft and cuddly in any gift I give to little ones—and you really can’t go wrong with a classic plush bunny for Easter. It’s sweet, comforting, and instantly gives the gift that cozy, kid-approved feel. Even if they already have a million stuffed animals (don’t they all?), somehow holiday-themed ones always feel extra special.

An Easter Book

I love giving books as part of any holiday gift—it’s a simple way to make the moment feel a little more meaningful, and it gives them something they can return to after the candy and toys are long gone. For this gift, I chose a sweet little Easter-themed picture book that’s filled with soft watercolor illustrations and a gentle, springy storyline.

Depending on the child’s age, you can go with a board book for toddlers, a lift-the-flap book for preschoolers, or even a seasonal activity or sticker book for older kids. It’s such an easy item to personalize based on their interests and reading level, and it turns the gift into something that feels thoughtful rather than just festive.

Plus, if they’re visiting your house, it’s a nice way to wind down later in the day—snuggled up on the couch reading together before the sugar crash hits.

These are a few of my favorite Easter books for littles—I've linked them below using my Amazon affiliate links, which means I may earn a small commission if you make a purchase (at no extra cost to you):

Little Blue Truck's Springtime (my kid's favorite!)

The Good Egg

A Personalized Tote Bag

One of my favorite parts of this gift is the personalized tote bag that comes with it. It’s not just cute—it’s actually super useful. Totes are perfect for Easter egg hunts, especially for younger kids, because eggs don’t fall out as easily as they do in traditional open baskets.

It also doubles as a carry-all for any gifts your child might receive from family during Easter gatherings. My parents always bring little gifts for the kids—so having a tote makes it really easy for us parents to scoop everything up and head home with it all in one place.

A Little Candy

I added just a touch of candy—nothing major, just a small pack of jellybeans and a few foil-wrapped chocolate eggs. You could also swap this out for bubbles, chalk, crayons, or stickers if you're going candy-free.

Putting this together took almost no time at all, just a quick shop on Amazon, and it felt so much more personal than grabbing a generic plastic basket off a store shelf. I loved that I could tailor it just for her—and I know she’ll light up when she sees her name on everything.

Short on Time? We’ve Got You Covered!

If you're looking for a festive, ready-to-go option, I also have pre-filled Easter gift sets available in our shop. Each one includes:

All you need to add is a bit of Easter grass, your favorite Easter book (my favorites linked above), and a sweet treat or two—and you’ve got the perfect Easter gift in minutes.

They’re adorable, kid-approved, and ready to go—so you can focus on the fun stuff!
